Myza: Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026. Developer: Zyter.

In short

  • Myza is a music player for your own music: files on your phone, your own servers and cloud storage.
  • The app has no server of its own, no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking components. We do not receive your data and we do not sell it.
  • Everything the app knows about your music and how you listen to it stays on your phone.
  • Data leaves the phone only by your choice and only to where you pointed it: a tag and cover search service (if you turned it on), your cloud or your server, or an email about a problem (if you sent it).

What is stored on your phone

  • The library: titles, artists, albums and other tags of tracks, covers, playlists, favorites, the playback queue.
  • App and appearance settings.
  • Listening history and statistics (for "Recommendations" and "My statistics"). They are counted on the device and never sent anywhere; you can turn them off, export and erase them.
  • A short activity journal for problem reports: paths, addresses, logins and passwords are removed when it is written, and track titles are replaced by a short hash.
  • Passwords and tokens of connected sources are kept in the secure storage of the phone.

All of it disappears when you uninstall the app. Parts can be erased inside the app: statistics (Settings → Statistics), a source together with its password (removing the source).

Permissions

  • Read audio (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android) to show the music on the phone.
  • Internet for servers, cloud storage and tag search, if you use them.
  • Background playback and the player notification so that music plays with the screen off.
  • Deleting a track's file (on your command) is done by Android itself, which asks you to confirm.

What may be sent, and where

WhatTo whom and whyWhen
Title, artist, album and length of a track (not the file itself)MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, Deezer, Apple iTunes Search, Last.fm: to find missing tags and a coverOnly when you tap "Find", start a job or turn on the "Automatic" mode. In the "Manual" mode (the default) nothing is sent without your action. Downloading covers from the internet can be switched off.
Address, login and password or sign-in tokenThe server or cloud you connected to: your own server (OpenSubsonic, WebDAV, Samba), Nextcloud, pCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive. We do not receive this data.Only while the source is added. Signing in to clouds happens in an external browser or a system window; the app receives only a token.
A problem report: version and build, phone model, Android version, memory state, playback settings, recorded errors and a short journal (without paths, addresses, logins, passwords and track titles)To the developer, by emailOnly after you open "Report a problem", read the text and tap "Send". The email is sent from your mail app; you see it and can edit it before sending.

These outside services receive technical information with the connection, like any website (for example your IP address), and follow their own rules: MusicBrainz, Deezer, Apple, Last.fm, Google, Dropbox, Microsoft and others. We pass nothing to them except what is listed above.

Security

  • Requests to search services and clouds use HTTPS.
  • You may enter your own servers without encryption (an http:// address, for example on a home network), and Samba does not encrypt the content. Then the data, including the password, travels openly. It is your choice; use https:// where you can.
  • Passwords and tokens are kept in the Android secure storage and are sent nowhere except the server they belong to.

Children

The app is not meant for children under 13, and we knowingly do not collect children's data.

Your rights and deleting data

We keep none of your data on our side, so requests for access or deletion concern only your phone: uninstall the app or erase what you need in its settings. Data in third-party services (a cloud, a search service) is governed by the rules of those services.

Changes

If the app starts to process data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
